On Saturday, 19 December President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić spoke on the phone with the President of the Republic of France, Emmanuel Macron, and in a long and friendly conversation wished him, above all, good health and a speedy recovery. President Vučić and President Macron expressed hope that the world would soon, with the help of the vaccine, overcome the pandemic. In this regard, President Vučić voiced hope that the citizens of the Western Balkans will get the opportunity for vaccination at the same time as the residents of the European Union. He thanked President Macron for his support, concern and human and statesmanlike solidarity, which he shows for the citizens of Serbia on this occasion as well.
The two presidents discussed bilateral relations, the regional situation and European integration. President Vučić noted that Serbia accepted the new methodology in the process of joining the EU, which was initiated by President Macron.
In that context, Presidents Vučić and Macron also discussed the continuation of the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština, agreeing that the conversation is necessary. President Macron said that he intends, together with Chancellor Merkel, to organise a meeting of dialogue actors to help create a constructive atmosphere for negotiations.
In that regard, the two statesmen emphasised the importance of the recently signed bilateral Agreement on Cooperation in the Realisation of Priority Projects in Serbia, which confirms the interest of France in projects in our country. The two statesmen also expressed the expectation that they will soon be able to meet and continue their constructive conversation. |
