The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, sent congratulations to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Yves Le Drian, on the occasion of the Bastille Day.
The congratulatory message of the head of Serbian diplomacy states that the fall of the Bastille is not only a national holiday of France, but also a holiday of all libertarian peoples, which have always included the Serbian people as well, and that our ties are crowned with successes in the fight for freedom and equality.
"From the historical ties of our two countries, the foundations have been created for successful and comprehensive bilateral cooperation. I am convinced that in the following period, relations and cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of France, both bilaterally and multilaterally, will develop even more successfully, in the mutual interest", the congratulatory message reads.
Also, the Minister expressed hope that France will continue to appreciate the efforts that Serbia is investing in reforms in the field of rule of law, with a view to future membership in the European Union, as well as commitment to the values of the International Organization of Francophonie, in the desire to become a full member as soon as possible.
Selaković sent his best wishes to France for recovery from the consequences of the corona virus pandemic, expressing confidence that France will emerge from these difficulties stronger and more ready to fight the global challenges which the civilization faces.
