Prime Minister Ana Brnabic spoke late today in Paris with her French counterpart Jean Castex about important European issues, bilateral relations and economic and military technical cooperation.
In her address to the press after the meeting, Brnabic said that the main message of the meeting was that French President Emmanuel Macron is personally committed to improving relations between France and Serbia.
President Macron is personally committed to further work on the improvement of political and economic relations between France and Serbia and follows personally many French investments which we have in Serbia today, she explained.
Brnabic underlined that Macron maintains permanent contact with the Serbian President and that the relation of respect between the two presidents produces results.
Over the past five years alone our trade exchange has increased by 36.4 percent. In the last four years it exceeded €1 billion, and in 2021 it stood close to €1.4 billion. The potential is at least ten times bigger though, Brnabic pointed out.
She said that there is a huge interest of French investors in Serbia, adding that there are indications that Michelin Group is planning additional expansion of investments through Tiger Tyres in Pirot.
Egis Group plans to open its engineering centre for the entire Balkan region in Belgrade, the Prime Minister specified.
Another good news is that the French Development Agency, which opened its office in Belgrade after the visit of President Macron in June 2019, plans to double its budget for projects in the region.
According to her, most of these projects are being implemented in Serbia.
These are some things that are completely changing the political and economic relationship with France, said Brnabic and noted that there will be many more good things in the relations between the two countries in the future.
